Messi was selected as Europe's best player this year by voting organized by France Football magazine. This Barca striker beat the competitors and also winning the title last year, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The third and fourth positions are occupied by team mate Messi in Barca, Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta.
"(Difference) in him (Messi) is the spirit. He has all the resources within himself, he's tough, fast, goalscorer, intelligent and can read the game well," said Guardiola.
"This is a tribute to him and the team. He deserved to be champions as well as players who are in different levels," said Barca coach is as reported by Reuters.
